French Ukulele Videos

Below is a link to a French speaking website. I think the .be means that it is a Belgian website. Alistair Wood reminded me of this site. This will lead the viewer to a new page with numerous high quality videos of a Bohemian nature. Some videos are featuring other instruments and most of the ones I looked at sang in English.

Al, posted this cute video on his site. But, I couldn't beat his choice so I used the same. Well I like it the best too. It has a great feel and it's fun to watch too. Click on Ukulele Hunt at the right to go to Al's incredible site.

Ja-da Ja-da Ja-da Ja-da Jing-Jing Jing

One of our beginner songs at the Berkeley Ukulele Club is Ja-da. I was wondering if there were additional lyrics to the song and googled. Got Brian Hefferan's site and found the lyrics here...
http://www.heftone.com/words/jada.html and there are additional lyrics. Here's the sheet music cover, lyrics page 1 and page 2...

The song is dated MCMXVIII (1918) so if it beyond its copywrite date and is now public domain. I notice that Brian sings Ja-da as Scat/Chorus/Scat/Chorus... http://www.heftone.com/wild/jada.mp3

UKULELE WEDNESDAYS || Ukulele Eck

I was googling around and found another ukulele club in England, Ukulele Wednesdays. I haven't had much time to research it fully but I was looking for an unusual song and they had it. I've looked at a few songs in their songbook which is arranged in separate alphabetical pdf files but I am really eager to check out more since I saw some unusual tunes there. I also added them to my ukulinkies for easy reference.

Today was a big crunch day. It is 10:15pm and I started at 7:00am. And they day is not through. Tomorrow morning I must get up early and take BART to San Francisco to meet a business client. at One Kearny St. The building is about 100 years old. It withstood the 1906 earthquake. I'll take note how many blocks it is away from Pier 1 on Market St. then see if I can see it in Bearetube's video.

When I want to hear some fun and thoughtful ukulele music, perhaps my favorite album is, Ukulele Eck and His Fabulous Lacklusters. The album is called Tarnished Reputation. The Gal from Oklahoma to the tune The Girl from Ipanema (Garota de Ipanema) has got to be one of the best parody songs for lightening the spirit during a long days work.

This album combines witty vocals with: ukulele, saw, lap, pedal & national steel guitars, bass, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, bass flute. It has an emphasis on the ukulele and the wind instruments are mainly background. I think there are some live cows too.

BOSKO & HONEY's NEW YEARS 2008 SAFARI COMPILATION VIDEO

I met Bosko & Honey in Santa Cruz at the special concert in Geno's shop. They are truly friendly people and great ambassadors for the ukulele. Honey told me that her teachers in school told her she wasn't musical. Amazing. Thanks B&H, HU

Whatever became of the episode that you did with Mike DaSilva?

SINGING LESSONS /

I met a man named Doug C. at the last Berkeley Ukulele Club meeting (12 DEC 08). He's got a lot of enthusiasm and is becoming one with his musical side. We've shared a few e-mails and are planning to play sometime soon. He told me about this three part YouTube singing lessons.

I have posted the first of the (3) here since links to parts 2 and 3 may be accessed by the information on the YouTube video. His name is Jeff and he's put quite a bit of time and thought in these videos. He's a Singer/Songwriter from just outside Chichester, in the English county of West Sussex. He's been writing songs for a few years now.

I have watched them and thought some ukers might find this information useful.
