Brazilian "Musical Chairs"

Brazilian Portuguese is a very musical language. I was studying for a while using the Pimsleur language program which I highly recommend to all people trying to learn a new language even though I am mad at them for not completing a 30 lesson program for Swedish! I think there are 90 lessons available for Brazilian Portuguese and 10 available for Swedish. Enjoy this playful video.

Scoopy Ron Hale finds, "Swede's Please"

This is a contemporary music site. Lots of interesting musical flavors that are fun to explore. Kontrar Musik reminds me a bit of the German electronica group Kraftwerk. For those modern progressives and lovers of indie music here's a new journey. HU

BARON K || YOUTUBE || SVERIGE || SWEDISH

BaronK69 sings with his Soul. I was doing the Ukulele Hunt stroll through videos and found that he lives in Sweden, the birth place of my mother. I have studied and studied Swedish but get such rare opportunities to hear or listen to it. This song is extremely beautiful and heartfelt: Ängeln i Rummet translates to The Angel in the Room. (BaronK69 includes an English translation if you click on the 'more info' portion on YT)

Here he collaborates with the Canadian ukebabe, Ukulelezo! UZo sings from a deep spot inside too. Had to post this one. Baron' s YT page is http://www.youtube.com/baronk69 and Zo's is

SLOW BOAT TO CHINA // Frank Loesser

SLOW BOAT TO CHINA

Another great ukulele resource is out of England called, http://www.ukulelecosmos.com/ I often go here for research and dry English humor. There are many topics to dive into in their forums. They have a gizmo where they chose a song of the month and people submit their versions, and sometimes they are crazy or good. I saw one month they chose Slow Boat to China.

My friend, Sue Graziano, wants me to sing Slow Boat to China in Swedish at the next ukulele club of Santa Cruz open mic. I’ll put the Swedish language video at the bottom. Be sure to listen to the duet with Craig Robertson & Karen Langlie of Ukulele Noir in Boston.

SURF CITY SHIRLEY

This video is about 9 minutes long. Shirley plays the song. Then she plays it again showing the chords for a play along. The vamp is discussed G7-C7-F, G7-C7-F. Shirley then discusses a triple strum and a latin/brush/roll stroke.
