I have gotten away from Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I have several of his albums and enjoy each one. He talks about Hawaii, being Hawaiian, Loss, his personal faith, and he seemed to be quite the joker. His voice and laughter resonate in his beautiful songs. I like the simplicity of this video. It is shot from just a few angles with the beach and island mountains in the distance. Brudda IZ was a brother to us all.
I found these videos all on http://www.youtube.com/user/peasefrawg downloads. You might find some more treasures there.
We're on the same wavelength here, Jeff.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the very best ukulele videos
extant. I used to bring this one up on uke
blogs as a counter to the tropical
Flying Fingers Corps that everyone was oohing and ahhing over. Puts them all to shame...
Shark!
Oops, when I made my previous comment, White Sandy Beach
ReplyDeletewas the only video (or else I just assumed it was and didn't notice the other two, entirely possible). But these are three of his
very best, Jeff. Used to watch these a lot, and
I've gotten away from Iz, too. Our ukulele spiritual source and center, we all must return
to be nourished... Aloha for these, HU.
I like the way the SnarkMeister also has the lighter philosophical side, well stated...
ReplyDeleteBruddah IZ as a spiritual source.
