This little character of YouTube fame it listed on Alistair Wood's Ukulele Hunt challenge to find the best ukulele inclusive video from 2009. This little guy has gone in for his world famous rendition of Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and is aptly monickered as Tiny McItchyFace. Go to www.ukulelehunt.com to submit you FAB 5.
I wanted to create this blog as a place where I can store and retrieve information for future reference. I chose the name Humble Uker Ramblings because I have started out strumming my father's 1950's painted Harmony ukulele. I think that the greatest appeal of the ukulele as "the people's instrument" is it's humble simplicity. My contact email is HumbleUker@gmail.com. I have also been working on a blog for the Baritone Ukulele called Humble Baritonics.

Thanks very much for the mention, Jeff. It's certainly not one of my favourites this year, but it's impossible to ignore.
ReplyDeleteSo, someone put the kid in. Al, of course, can't stand
ReplyDeletethe kid and he's not the only ukulele blogger to
feel that way. He could have created a special
award for the kid and kept him out of the contest. I predicted on Ukulele Hunt
that if he were entered and the civilian world were to find out and start voting, the kid would
run roughshod (putting it mildly) over any and all competition.
As much as I like the lad, I'm Yours is not contest worthy (12 million views not withstanding). Gently Weeps is much better, but
I would never have entered it as
the kid doesn't need any more exposure.
If I'm Yours makes the finals, I can't see anything stopping it (saving sanity). But, if that happens, the contest will have been hijacked and turned into something Al never envisioned. I can see him being gracious on-site about it, but I cannot imagine him being happy about it.
It doesn't look like he'll make it. Only one nomination for him so far (for a different song). Perhaps people are over it now. Or, at least, ukulele people have had enough.
