"Battle song" by Ukestar (making video 2010)

I had seen Gio on the late great Midnight Ukulele Disco. Here he is in Japan as part of a film. This video is a "the making of" type video. If noting else check out the ukulele conglomeration "ukeytar" shown at the 8:00 minute mark. Gio also has a cool scene at the 8:38 mark. It's a crazy video of Japanese Uke Punk. Are you crazy enough to check it out?

A Clip from Some Like it Hot...

I just watched this movie a few weeks ago to see a Marylin Monroe movie for the very first time that I can remember. It was a silly movie that I did enjoy but the ukulele got only a minor part in this traincar scene.

SOUTH SEAS CINEMA

I just got an e-mail from Matt at South Seas Cinema... and this is definitely something that suits me well because I enjoy vintage movies. For those of you that enjoy island life, or dreaming about the tropical climates while in the depths of snow this site has a diversion for you.

I need to finalize my Ukuleles-In-Movies list and get it ready for easy viewing.

UKULELE MOVIES || Doris Day -- On Moonlight Bay

I have still been keeping track of movies with ukulele scenes. Wendy and I watched a couple more movies from a small Doris Day collection. The movie, On Moonlight Bay, set in the WWI time period in middle America. There's a parlour scene when a suitor sings a song with a ukulele to Doris Day then her little brother picks up the ukulele and strums a bit.

MOVIES || Japanese Sandman || Debra Paget

This YT video mixes snapshots with Beachboys music and segments of the movie. There's an extended ukulele scene. Suekulele said in her comment on the the Ukulele Movies post, "A beautiful scene of Debra Paget and Hoagy Carmichael doing "Japanese Sandman". He appears to play a soprano uke while she dances and sings.".

Ms Paget was quite a dancer. I came across this video of a Fritz Lang's INDIAN EPIC a German Film. This clip is quite intense and will likely only appeal to those with higher levels of testosterone and exotic dancers. Sorry there's no ukulele in this clip.

UKULELE SCENES IN MOVIES

.
PLEASE HELP ME ADD TO THIS MOVIE LIST
.
Hello ukulele friends:
.
I have a few movies that have ukulele scenes in them and I thought I would devote this entire post to just movies with ukulele scenes. I would like to know what movies that have a substantial ukulele playing sequence that might be worth watching. For instance I have the movie, The Glass Bottom Boat, in which Doris Day and Arthur Godfrey sing and he plays the ukulele for two complete songs: Que Sera, Sera and the Glass Bottom Boat. It is a fun early color film from 1966. HU
.
Foreign, I mean non-U.S., film names are VERY welcome. I will edit and realphabetize this list as I get more information. As this lists develops I'll change it to spreadsheet and make a pdf for easier viewing. NOTE: I have not checked all of the movies in the list (yet).

Wheres UKE-O?

I was looking for Amanda on YT (previous post) to ask what she's done to her uke and came across a Disney movie trailer. Disney, has a strong-hold in Americana, and my heart, I guess. Took a peek at this movie that I'd never seen and voila! Even animation is getting in on the uke band.

On the same movie topic and way back in 1951, the glorious story of Gus Kahn (Danny Thomas)and his wife Grace LeBoy Kahn (Doris Day) came into theaters and now it's in DVD. Got it as a part of a Doris Day movie collection! Gus Kahn was a very popular music writer. The name of the movie is "I'll see you in my dreams". It has many old-time uke-popular and just plain old popular songs of that time that are now timeless: It had to be You, Yes Sir That's my Baby, Carolina in the Morning, Love me or leave me, Makin' Whoopee; No, no Nora; I'll see you in my dreams... There's also a ukulele scene in the movie.
