The rascal with the ukulele enters the story at the 8 minute mark...
Season 1, Episode 8
I wanted to create this blog as a place where I can store and retrieve information for future reference. I chose the name Humble Uker Ramblings because I have started out strumming my father's 1950's painted Harmony ukulele. I think that the greatest appeal of the ukulele as "the people's instrument" is it's humble simplicity. My contact email is HumbleUker@gmail.com. I have also been working on a blog for the Baritone Ukulele called Humble Baritonics.
Love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how the ukulele seems to attract a certain type isn't it? That hat and jacket and sense of humor wouldn't be out of place at a uke fest today.
The actor playing then part was a guy named Phil Gordon who was born Phillip Gulley. He was apparently a jazz musician in the 1940s and 1950s. I can't find anything else about him. He only died two years ago and there is an obit for him here:

Thanks Jules. I have been watching the Andy Griffith shows and just completed season 3. I really enjoy these old shows. Andy plays his guitar and there were frequently episodes with musicians or jug bands incorporated into the story lines. I came upon that BH episode entirely by accident. HU
