I wanted to create this blog as a place where I can store and retrieve information for future reference. I chose the name Humble Uker Ramblings because I have started out strumming my father's 1950's painted Harmony ukulele. I think that the greatest appeal of the ukulele as "the people's instrument" is it's humble simplicity. My contact email is HumbleUker@gmail.com. You know, I got excited at hearing her name connected with the ukulele, then when I saw her playing, not so much. There's really only one thing I don't cotton to, and that's playing a uke like a quitar. If you put a guitar in her hands, it'd sound about the same. Still, if it gets folks interested in playing...
A video of her playing Savannah in 2009 has a bit with her introducing the audience to her uke and holding it up over her head to thunderous applause and screaming. Sure, she plays only a few songs on the instrument, but people remember. This is profile so high, Gary and Jeff, that even Jake standing on the shoulders of James, can barely catch sight of Taylor up in the heavens - using the Hubble telescope...
