... you lay down in bed and as your head hits the pillow and you say, "I can't believe it I haven't played my uke at all today." I get up and say to myself, "Just one song." Practice that one song for the solo open mic in Santa Cruz on Thursday. And there I am sitting IN THE DARK upstairs playing the Stray Cat Strut two times, and then the Girl from Ipanema two times and then Steven Strauss' Yellow Bird arrangement. The cool thing is, there's no looking at those frets! Just feeling and listening. Try it sometime. Or just close your eyes and feel it. HU
I wanted to create this blog as a place where I can store and retrieve information for future reference. I chose the name Humble Uker Ramblings because I have started out strumming my father's 1950's painted Harmony ukulele. I think that the greatest appeal of the ukulele as "the people's instrument" is it's humble simplicity. My contact email is HumbleUker@gmail.com. I have also been working on a blog for the Baritone Ukulele called Humble Baritonics.
